7th Grade Boys Hawks Get Big Win at Edgewood!

The 7th Grade Boys Hawks squad took down the Cougars of Edgewood Monday in a game that was not as close as the score would have you believe. After Edgewood snuck in the first points off the opening tip, the Hawks led the entire way until late in the 4th quarter. Then in what looked to be setting up as a repeat of the nightmarish scenarios seen in some other Hawks’ games, the score narrowed as Edgewood began draining unlikely 3-point shots. Nearly half of all the Cougar’s points in the game came from behind the arc, all of which in the 4th quarter. That improbable comeback led to some intense moments and ultimately a tied score at the end of regulation. But the Hawks emerged victorious imposing their will on the home team in the extra period by closing out the game with some clutch offense, their signature defensive effort, and a full court press for which Edgewood had no answer. Bendan Flugstad led the Hawks with 9 points including a huge bucket in overtime. Other Hawks scorers included Parker Elliff, Dakota Lamb, Mitchell Tamkus, Zane Plattner and Tyler Suhre. The Hawks are back on the road Tuesday night at Sycamore.

8th Grade Blue Girls Fall in Two Tough Games

The Nighthawks got off to a slow start at Winton Woods falling behind 21 to 10 at half. The girls threw off the rust in the second - displaying solid defense and aggressive rebounding. The girls allowed only 5 points while scoring 9 in the second. Yet the comeback fell short - losing to the Warriors 26 to 19.

G8 Blue traveled to Walnut Hills next to take on the talented Eagles. The first half saw the Nighthawks playing toe to toe with one of the best teams in the conference. Our zone defense held the Eagles in check while the girls hit timely shots for an entertaining 14 to 14 first half. However the Eagles came out flying in the second - playing quick - creating turnovers and getting into the lane for high percentage shots. The 3rd quarter was 14 to 3 in favor of Walnut Hills. The Eagles defense was tough and our girls couldn't get the ball to fall despite quality inside efforts. G8 Blue fell 38 to 23 in the end.
